Switchboard certified Great Place to Work

Here at Switchboard, we pride ourselves on our working environment – it’s friendly, warm, and collaborative. It’s embedded in our culture and something we’ve continuously worked at over the years. This is why we’re incredibly thrilled to announce that we’ve been certified as a GPTW (Great Place To Work).

What is the Great Place To Work certification?

Great Place To Work (GPTW) is a global organization dedicated to recognizing and spotlighting employers who have created an outstanding workplace and employee experience.

Since the certification is based entirely on employee feedback, GPTW’s scores genuinely reflect what it’s like to work at a particular company and can help businesses bring in better talent and decrease churn rates.

As part of the certification, GPTW generates scores on company culture based on employee feedback.

We’re proud to announce that Switchboard came out with a whopping 100% score across the company culture surveys. Let’s take a closer look at the categories that contributed to our Great Place To Work 2022 certification.

Compared to typical companies (with an average score of 57%), 100% of Switchboard’s employees agree that it is a ‘great place to work’.

We also received a 100% satisfaction rating across the following categories:

• ask Management any reasonable question and get a straight answer
• Management is approachable and easy to talk with
• Management is competent at running the business
• Management hires people who fit in well here
• Management does a good job of assigning and coordinating people

What makes Switchboard a great place to work?

The Great Place To Work certification also takes into account individual employee comments on Switchboard’s culture via the Trust Index Survey, which we’ll be sharing in our next post.

Words that consistently popped up included: flexibility, unique, excellent, encouragement, family, freedom, people, everyone, goals, growth.

This highlights just how unified Switchboard is as a company and how connected and aligned our teams are, as well as our mission to give everyone the opportunities and resources they need to thrive and meet company wide objectives.

We also pride ourselves on carving out time to catch up and build relationships with one another – virtually and in real life. We built a strong remote culture before the pandemic made it the norm, holding regular lunches and dinners.

Our latest remote team-building exercises included a Halloween-themed team meeting, as well as an empanada cooking challenge. IRL events included a walking tour of our hometown San Francisco followed by a fun evening of cooking up some Asian-inspired culinary delights.
